Hope to see you there to enjoy a piece of our county fair!
2019 Fair Queen and Little Miss to continue their reign through 2020! With the cancellation of the 2020 Monroe County Fair, there will also be no Queen or Little Miss pageant. Our 2019 Monroe County Fair Queen Lexi Ruemker and Little Miss Gabi Rae Stumpf have graciously agreed to extend their reign. It is their privilege and desire to continue to promote the Fair, as well as participate in the production of the next Monroe County Fair Pageant and the crowning of their successor Queen and Little Miss, presumably with the title of 2021 Miss Monroe County and Little Miss Monroe County.
2020 Monroe County Fair Canceled
May 26, 2020
For the last 72 years the Monroe County Fair has provided opportunities for kids and families to show their animals, produce and fine arts and to enjoy the food, fellowship and fun of our county fair. So it with sincere regret that the Monroe County Fair Board is announcing the cancellation of the 2020 Monroe County Fair.
The Board has gone through some difficult weeks of uncertainty as our county, our state and our country have struggled with the coronavirus pandemic. The main concern of the Monroe County Fair Board during these weeks has been the health and safety of those who participate in and those who attend the annual county fair. The decision to cancel the fair was made following numerous conversations with the Monroe County Health Department and local officials, all of whom are required to follow the Governor’s Restore Illinois Safety Plan. The Safety Plan does not allow for festivals or large group events until Phase 5 of the Plan has been reached. Currently, Monroe County is in Phase 2 of the Safety Plan, with a move to Phase 3 anticipated on May 29.
Again, our concern has been and always will be the health and safety of all of those involved in the Monroe County Fair. And if we continue to work together to get through this difficult time, we will come out of this pandemic as an even stronger community.
So, thank you for your support as we look forward to all being together at the 2021 Monroe County Fair!
